Yucca Mountain has competition…
The nation’s nuclear waste is piling up. The proposed storage site at Nevada’s Yucca Mountain has been nixed — possibly for good. And the problem is only growing more acute:
On Friday, a D.C. federal appeals court ruled that the current strategy of keeping waste on-site at power plants around the country may not be viable. So what can the United States do instead?

I’m kind of reluctant to join the npweeapsr site to read a single story, but I thank you for the post anyhow. I’d like to see more coverage of Yucca Mountain, although that subject does not seem to interest the public very much. As I recall, June is the date set for an application to certify Yucca Mountain as a nuclear waste repository. I have read that over $100 million has been sent just in preparation of the official application. Can you comment on what is happening with Yucca Mountain now?
